Jiang Cheng held the kid even tighter as he soft hummed a tune that his sister always sang to him to help him fall asleep. He continued to rub his thumb on the younger Lan's face until his breathing became more steady. He didn't know what possessed him to kiss Jingyi's head.
Maybe, it's the alcohol that's to blame. He didn't want to take advantage of the kid. But who was he kidding? He wasn't even drunk.
Once he was sure that Jingyi had indeed fallen asleep, Jiang Cheng carefully laid him on the backseat of the car. He made sure that he was snugly comfortable before he went back to the driver's seat and started the engine. He took a glance at the kid through the rearview mirror and Jiang Cheng couldn't fight the smile that escaped his mouth.
Ah, he looks so peaceful in his sleep. I'm just hoping that he won't throw up.
